Curragh Lake Cottages

All cottages are self catering and fully equipped, including linen, pillows and blankets. Bring your own towels. The kitchen is equipped with an electric stove, microwave and fridge / freezer, plus all crockery, cutlery and utensils. Braai facilities are provided but bring your charcoal. Cosy fireplaces give warmth and companionship to chilly winter evenings. You may even be lucky enough to experience a snow storm. Please enquire if wood and coal will be available to buy on the farm.
A maid will service the cottage once a day, Monday to Saturday, in lounge, kitchen and bathrooms only. No service in bedrooms or on Sundays or Public Holidays. We are home to an abundance of bird life and wildlife. Spot the otters, rhebuck and reidbuck and fish eagles. Finally, fish for our wily, naturally spawned, rainbow and brown trout on our own 15kms of river and 101 hectares lake. There is an extra charge for this, and fly-fishing tackle only is allowed. Bring your own kick-craft or float tubes. We also hire boats if you have none. No power boats, please.

Curragh Lake Cottages is a most picturesque fishing venue and you will have any fisherman travelling past green with envy if they look across the lake towards the Berg and see you perched in a tube or boat fishing! The trout in the lake are lively and I suspect, very large. However, my preference at Curragh Lake Cottages would be the river that feeds this lake. Miles and miles of excellent water hold lots of wild spawning rainbows and browns – some up to 2 – 3lbs! I spent an afternoon having success at every likely lie I tried for 2 hours. Bring out the 2/3 weights and Bead Headed Nymphs and you should see action soon!
